AC900 F Third Party Communication
Good afternoon , Could you support to us in the followwing question?
I have been talking to a customer about the possibility to buy AC900F and they are thinking to use SCADA getting the information from AC900F.
I have read about the communication and the possiblities are : ModBus RTU, ModBusTCP, or we could use OPC Server licensed which it allows to them to get the tag object/attributes . They are the possiblities that I know so far, last week I heard from some guys about a driver which it would allow to connect to AC900F directly and it gets the values etc, for example from wonderware software , Is it possible or to get the data we would need the OPC Server as usually /ModBus TCP or Mod Bus RTU?
Thanks for your support
You have many different possibilieties. Freelance controllers, AC 900F included, have many communication interfaces - Modus (RTU, ASCII, TCP), TCP/UDP (Ethernet), OPC Server (DA/EA) etc. OPC server must be installed on a seperate PC and DMS is what the Server uses to get data from controllers. You could possibly use DMS to connect directlly to controller, but to do this you need to write a proper interface using Freelance API (think about it as a C programming language library). As far as I know this was not implemented in any SCADA system, so all the programming and integration work would need to be done on IT/R&D level.
I think that if you need to connect Freelance controllers to SCADA, Your best choices were mentioned in the first sentence of this post (Modbus or TCP/UDP if you need to connect directlly to controller or OPC if you can use an additional PC for the server).
Hope this helps,
