800xA for Advant Master System Communication Error
My customer have a communication trouble with their 800xA for Advant Master system.
Description: The 800xA operator station is frequently disconnected and reconnected from system. In the error time, it cannot get any alarm, event or live data.
I heard about the "MB300 backpressure" problem that you have explained in an other topic. If I am facing this problem?
In detail, please see my attachment report and give me some advice.
For serious problems affecting system performance and customer satisfaction, please do always file a proper support case with your regional ABB support center. The amount of support I can provide on an open forum like AKS is limited.
As always when reporting a problem with 800xA for Advant Master (aka AC400 Connect) try to include a check of the RTA(s). Let the Control Builder A (OnLine Builder) or RTA Board Maintenance be connected during a problem scenario and take notice of system messages being output there (messages can be disabled; verify in options that they are printed to screen and not only the log).
For 800xA we also want to have a copy of the [Workplace Structure]Web System Workplace:System Event List covering the problematic time period. Use "CTRL-A/CTRL-C/CTRL-V" to mark all, copy and paste into notepad as regular plain text. The page down button can be used to view the next 500 and so on.
The "MAC Checksum error ch 1" reported from node 20 are too frequent to be left out of the equation (a handful of errors per day could be acceptable, but not once per minute. In most cases the MAC error is due to faulty hardware or improper MB300 bus configuration. The MasterNet User's Guide, 3BSE003839R301 gives full detail about installation, grounding, maximum lengths, termination, etc. Please enforce the rules layed out there.
The "MAC Loss of carrier" is even worse - node 20 sometimes looses connection with the MB300 network! This must be corrected. Please check hardware involved (CS513 card, drop cable, transceiver, etc.).
However, I don't think the two errors above is the only contributors to the problem.
A common problem with 800xA for Advant Master is subscription overload from some 3rd party application, etc. Please download and read the 800xA for Advant Master Performance Guideline, 3BSE042621. The performance of the MB300 OPC server heavily depends on the behavior of the OPC client. E.g. a 60 second cyclic subscription causes 10x more CPU load than a 9 second subscription! Be sure to use correct behavior in 3rd party applications. Also "in house" applications should adhere to the recommendations, e.g. Basic History logging should be made with TTD or OPC 1s, 3s or 9s cycle times, nothing else.
I could tell more if I had the RTA system messages, system events from 800xA and a description of what is configured in the 800xA system..
Dear Mr. Stefan,
In my story, our company sold the new RTA card to the plant, the plant repalaced it themselves and I am a remote technical assistant. Our customer think there is some error in the new RTA card but I don’t think so, so I have to explant to them. I have already send my report to the regional support center, too.
Because I don’t work on site directly so I think it will take many time to have more information as your request.
However, I get some HMI photo about Control Structure, Node Administrator structure and Service Structure. I see that all of Alarm & Event Service is malfunction. What do you think about it?
