PM554ETH Firmware update problem!
Upgraded the firmware of an PM554ETH from 2.x to 2.4.4, because after building the project with Automation Builder 1.1 the onboard IO's were not working and the PLC displayed an error. Automation Builder lists the AC500-eco firmware as 2.4.1 but no such download could be found. So I got the 2.4.4 version.
But after upgrading the AC500-eco to firmware 2.4.4 the PLC is stoned - no login is possible - neither Ethernet nor COM1!
The IP-configuration tool from Automation Builder "sees" the PLC with correct IP parameters.
Is there a way out, can I downgrade to the old version or shall I order a new PLC?
Thnx in advance!

Hi
one older version of FW is possible to download to cpu.
Search on abb library the file 1SAP190800R0233....this is the update from version 2.x to 2_3_3.
Check if the cpu with this FW version is correct recognized by sw on pc.
Next you can try to update from 2_3_3 to 2_4_4
You need to have SD card and SD card slot to insert in your cpu, because I think that without connection PC-PLC, it is not possible to perform by Automation Builder.
The SD card would be write of course by your pc, follow the PDF instruction inside the update ZIP file
Hope this help you, let us know about the results
Hello!
I have experienced this 1 time.
I only had to change the IP to something else using IP config and then back.
Then it worked.

Flavio thanks for your reply!
The upgrade I made was by booting the PLC -
1.Power Off;
2.SD card with 2.4.4 firmware in;
3.Power On.
4.RUN/ERROR Led's blink for a while;
5.The ABB manual says flashing is done on "slowly blinking green lamp" - as with most ABB manuals - which lamp? I suppose the RUN one, what is slowly - in my case ~ 1Hz, at least no RED lamp - so I suppose there was no ERROR during flashing!
6.Power Off;
7.SD card out;
8.Power On;
The PLC reacts to the IP-configuration tool - it is resetted and is scanned correctly!
But nevertheless, after restart no login is possible - Communication error during login!
I tried this out with the 2.3.3 version - same result!
Well, 2.1.5 didn't help either!
Any idea?
Have a nice weekend!

Ok Emilsg,
you have tried only with IP cable or both with COM 1 port? Try to use the suggestion that Gustav have explain; normally one old version of FW it may require a dual boot, as per instructions in PDF ABB. Lets us know about the results and have a nice WE

Well, after copying the project to another computer login worked! Then it started working from the original computer as well! Ahhh, the Automation Builder is a can of worms! How sick a developer must one be to present an IP mask, gateway and IP address as a DWORD in decimal format????
Gustav, now I'm going to try your method!
