- It's not
>"how to create a new Data Type with variables in a Library?"
- By using the Control Builder Open Interface. Documents describing how to use CBIF are on the Install disk along with control builder ( Both Compact and 800xA versions )
Unless your project is large and repetitive there is a significant time overhead in using the CB IF ( as well as a requirement for some basic understanding of OOP, XML, Microsoft object model etc) so this is not usually the answer people are looking for.
I am not sure, if I get your question correctly. But if you have Bulk Data Manager on your machine, then with this add-in in Excel you should be able to update any control properties in a module.
For example: You can browse the 'control properties' aspect of a particular control module instance into BDM and update the paramter values.
And you want to add some more modules with the similar values, then just drag and drop with update in CM instance names (unique instance names) and just export to CBM. Then you will find as many instances you want with the help of BDM feature.
But updating a library data type, I am not sure if you can do that, but try with Data type reference.
Please NOTE: you have to be very careful when working on BDM, make sure you have taken the application backup before.
