How to print alarms to notepad / txt /xls through alarm logger service
We are using 800xA 5.1 Rev A with MOD 300 Connect.
We can able to print an alarm when it generates, through printer using alarm logger service. If the printer type is generic text , then we can send the alarm to any third party alarm monitor system using alarm logger service through com port.
If we dont have the external monitor sysytem, then with this generic / text we can send alarm to a text file.
Problem we are facing:- When ever we are opening this text file, it shows only the current alarms printed at that time. Previous alarms we are not able to see in that text file. That means it is over riding the previous alarms
Requirement:- Whether it is possible to print the alarms to the text file one by one. Whenever alarm generates it has to be logged in a text file, the same can be used for alarm analysis purpose.

I fear that there is no "out of the box" solution available in 800xA to log alarms on file.
The Alarm Logger is not capable of keeping a record of past alarms on file; it is implemented for printing them on a bona fide printer.
I suggest looking at some 3rd party OPC AE based solution, or implement one of your own (if you have knowledge in programming OPC AE clients).
Last, you may choose to file a request for this new functionality with your local ABB sales representative.
