Automation Builder lost license
Hello ABB.
I've read several questions regarding this topic and I think I udnerstand how the Automation Builder license works. However, I'd like to be sure before trying it.
Here's the problem:
My computer, where I had Automation Builder v1.2 with license, crashed and I had to format it. I know that there's no file for the license and, as far as I've understood, I can simply re-enter my activation code on a new installation of Automation Builder since it's linked to my computer's NIC MAC address. Is that right?
Will I have any problem if my license was for Automation Builder v1.2 and I try it on v2.1?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi
Automation Builder 1.2 and Automation Builder 2.1 request two different license number to use them.
I had in my pc Automation Builder 1.2 up to 2 years ago.
When I have decided to update the SW with the new Automation Builder 2.X , I had to buy a new license.
This is the actual rules for the new version of AB...
For more information I suggest you to contact your local ABB sales network
Hope this help you

Hi,
Look on this link
http://new.abb.com/plc/automationbuilder/platform/software
It is noted, that Licenses of Automation Builder 1.x will not be valid for Automation Builder 2.x
Hi,
Use the the activation code to reactivate AB1.2 on the formatted pc.
If license validation involves only setting a registry value, then you can reactivate without any issues,as all registry entries will be set to default post PC formatting.
Since you will reinstall on the same PC,MAC address if used by code meter license server will remain the same and you can reactivate with the same serial no on the same PC.
Go through the below link for the license file tranfer doc.

As Flavio has mentioned, you will need to order new/upgrade license from abb for using V2.x Standard or Premium editions beyond the 30 days evaluation period.
