Compact HMI 800 History Data Backup
Is it Possible to take backup of the History Data(LOG DATA) from a Compact HMI system. Also what is the maximum storage limit for the History Data in Compact HMI 800?
Basic History (deployed in 800xA and CHMI) is extremely easy to handle.
A dedicated backup function that can be automatically scheduled exist but creating a ZIP archive of the data folder is just as easy, super fast, but a manual effort (Basic History service need to be disabled during a ZIP operation).
Backups are compatible with any system carrying the same object IDs and OPC properties. The file names contain object ID for easy matching of file vs object. More recent verions may read files from an older. No manual conversion needed.
10.000 logs is the design limit but may be reduced if combining many roles in the same computer.
SSD storage is recommended for performance.
For 32-bit systems I recommend staying below 50 GB total storage. Use secondary logs to calculate slower averages if long term storage is required (fast primary logs burn a lof of space from those stipulated 50 GB). Keep a watch on virtual memory; too many primary logs, too many secondaries or too heavy client load may cause memory to climb or even hit 2 GB limit (malfunction is likely well before that figure).
Starting with 800xA Base 5.1 RevD RU5 Basic History is made "Large Address Aware" on 64-bit operating systems enabling a bit more data to be stored. I don't know when this build was made part of or available in CHMI.
