Good value for NPPWarningLimit?
in the Basic Computer Asset there is an alarm for the Non Paged Pool memory, called NPPWarningLimit. The default alarm value for this is 115 mb, but my clients (Windows 7 64-bit) all use more mb's for the Non Paged Pool Memory. The highest value is 197 mb. Wat would be a good value for this alarm when using Windows 7 64 bit machines?
This has been a problem since day one of PNSM.
Its hard to predict a good value for all (the default setting can obviously not fit all OS:es and server role combinations). The value is affected by many different contributors (OS, service packs, patches, drivers, 3rd party applications, etc).
Windows Performance Monitor help text for NPP gives some assistance, Google can surely provide more background info.
I recommend moving the limit so that unneccesary alarms are avoided, by monitoring the NPP value (eg in Task Manager's Performance tab) it should be possible to find a good value for any given machine.
