PM866 AC800M Controllers Crashing and Erasing the Application Program
We have experinced a Pair of AC800M PM866 redundant controllers crashing, causing the application to be erased by the controller.
It was then required to download to the controllers once again to get the application program back on.
It happened when no work was being preformed to the system.
Has anyone seen this before?
Controller logs dont hint at the cause just that it happened due to fatal error.
The cyclic loading is low of this processor and once re downloaded it has been fine.
Any help greatly received
Did the controller LED blink red (=crash) or did you in fact suffer from an unexpected power loss?
The built-in battery and the older SB821 external battery may both suffer from LiOh oxidation causing a drop in voltage/current when 24 volt power is lost. With enough oxidation a controller reset will occur.
The new SB822 external battery has a trickle charger that prevent excessive odidation.
In any case I recommend filing a support case with your regional ABB support center for assistance finding a root cause.
