800xA System for AdvantMaster Alarm&Event Trouble
I'm facing Alarm&Event Trouble of 800xA system with Advantmaster.
Our system is configured as below.
1. Aspect Servers : 2oo3
2. Connectivity Servers : Redundant 1 set (Primary, Secondary)
3. others : PU 410 2 set, One Hub for AUI(2prots is seperated to 2 PU410)
4. Total Tags : 17000 ea (Only MB300 Network)
5. Software Version : SV5.1 SP4 Rev D + Ru2 / Recent Version
6. Clients : 6ea
7. Special Enviroment : Minerals Library used, independant 800xA system exist for IMS(Knowledge Manager)
8. MB300 Nodes : 15ea
Situation : Just one time , Alarms & Events of one node were not coming in either 800xA system or exist Advant Station(AS515). AE of Other node were normal. DA was also at that time.
Solute Action : Turned off Secondary Connectivity Server, then Alarms & Events of that node appeared to 800xA & Advant station.
Question : I'd like to know the resoan why happen this situation.
and Which one is not configured?
There probably was a MB300 transmission problem between the affected controller and the secondary connectivity server which was resolved by restarting it.
This is known as "MB300 backpressure".
Please contact your regional ABB support center for assistance with root cause analyse and preventing the problem from reocurring.
Explaining how the MB300 network protocol works and what may trigger a flow problem (aka "Backpressure") requires substantial amounts of text which does not fit well on a forum thread.
In short: contrary to live data, alarm and event telegrams are resent perpetually on MB300 until received by all recipients (RTAs). If one recipient (RTA) does not have resources to receive more signals the flow of A&E will be halted from this controller until resources in the blocking RTA have been freed up so that the telegram can be properly received. Disconnecting the blocking RTA from the MB300 network will also resolve the backpressure immediately.
Backpressure is a very rare situation, but can be triggered by communication overload.
As a first measure, I recommend to inventory all OPC DA clients using the secondary connectivity server. Is there any 3rd party application implemented in a way that contradicts the 800xA for Advant Master Performance Guideline (3BSE042621)?
A second measure could be to install the most recent rollup for 800xA for Advant Master (3BSE082435) which contain a correction to a problem (800xAADM-OL-5111-007) that could cause very high load between RTA and one or more controllers in case a telegram has been lost and need to be resent.
