Can anybody help me on how to create an OPC server and include the instruments tags so that I can use with Labview
You have to add it to the project configuration.
Add a D_GS resource to the Software tree, chose OPC-Gateway.
Add a GWY node to the hardware tree. Assign the D-GS resource to it.
You can place the OPC server on a separate machine or combine it with one of the existing machines (Engineering PC, Operator station). Make sure you have installed the OPC server option on that machine. Use the Configure tool to add/activate the OPC server on that machine, resource id as used for the GWY node. The Opc server will appear as Freelance2000OPCServer.<resource id here>.
Tags will be available automatically after download. Default station access is readonly. You might want to adapt this as needed, either for the whole station or some tags.
You need to insert a Gateway object (GWY) in the P-Tree under the Software node and also a GWY object in the hardware structure.
In the header of the GWY object in the P-Tree select the gateway type to be OPC Gateway.
In the hardware structure double click on the grey field below the GWY station and from the Resource selection window that pops up select the OPC gatweway from the P-Tree. This assigns the sofware to the physical hardware.
Configure the IP address and resource ID of the OPC Gateway in the network configuration (Project / Network ...). Make sure the resource ID is unique in the project!
Then on the PC that shall run the OPC server (can be the Engineering PC or your LabView PC) configure the OPC gateway. That requires that the Freelance Software, especially the Gateway & server part be installed on that PC.
Tunnel and Trendserver are not necessary for your application.
After the software is installed, run the Settings program as Administrator(!)
and select the Freelance OPC Server node. Enter the resource ID given in the Project into the "New resource ID" field and press ADD.
Now go back to the engineering, compile evrything (Plausibility check all) and load controller, gateway and operator station in that sequence.
That should do the trick.
