how to take backup from advant staion 500

With no backups at hand you have very few options to restore...
I believe process graphic displays are stored below: /products/data/customer/OS/displays
Login via console, telnet, etc and use tar to offload a backup to tape, or transfer an archive to another computer with ftp in binary mode.
Then boot station on product media tape or CD. Install from scratch. During sizing of disk partitions, enable ”Media Init” in advanced settings to force low level formatting. If disk is bad, the media init may find & fix it or simply abort installation.
When station is up and running again (there could be other issues preventing proper start, eg loss of EISA settings due to BIOS battery failure) you can attempt to restore your graphic displays again. Best of course from a ”Backup of OS configurable data”, but you could restore manually from any archive or ftp you managed to extract before reinstallation. Display Transfer is also an option, if you have a second Advant Station with the same setup of process graphics.
The /products/log/dcSystem.log can be enabled to provide additional details to why station does not startup, before or after you reinstall it.

Please read about Display Transfer in chapter 3 of AdvaCommand® Basic Functions User’s Guide, 3BSE 001 976R0401 Rev A
Display Transfer prerequisites:
1. Stations must be on same Ethernet network
2. IP-address might need to be defined, use set_parms to set IP.
3. /etc/hosts file must list the remote station
