800xA Remote OPC Connection
I've 800xA System on our plant, as subplant we have some Freelance 9.2 SP2 system. I would like to monitor some datas from these sub plant via OPC Server.
I've adjust all DCOM setting, and test them via Kepserver from remote computer, everything seems working properly.
Under Control Network I've added Generic OPC Network, but as an Connectivity Server i can't see Freelance2000OPC.Server.
Could you please explain me how can i remote OPC server to 800xA system?
Thanks for your advice.

The 800xA OPC DA Connector service's connection to the remote computer will be attempted using the 800xA service account and from a process running as a service (in the background) which is not the same as connecting using a OPC DA client running on the desktop.
Does any new process kick alive in the remote computer when you try to connect (I'm not sure, but I think the Connector will remote launch opcenum.exe to inventory all available servers)?
To be able to subscribe for data, DCOM settings must be "bidirectional", ie the remote OPC server must be allowed to perform callbacks to the 800xA DA Connector.
Don't hesitate to contact your regional ABB support center and ask for assistance.
Assuming you have two different networks, also two differnet domains or workgroups, then probably you have diffent users.
I would try creating the same user with the same password on both systems, doesn't matter if DC or workgroup are called diferently, using the exact same user and password will allow the 800xA system to open a remote OPC session on the Freelance system.
Kepware is probably using a diffent mechanism to allow communication.
I'm also assuming that you created the necessary service under OPC_DA CONNECTOR Service on SERVICE STRUCTURE, and on the OPC provider, SPECIAL CONFIGURATION tab, you are using the IP address of the freelance node on the REMOTE OPC NODE field.
I hope this will help.
Sometimes it could be tricky to connect to a remote OPC Server even if all DCOM settings are correct. If the connection works well I have found that in case of a network error the connection is not automatically reconnect by 800xA.
I'm using OPC Tunneller software this makes the connection much easier and more reliable.
