RVG200 Modbus TCP as Slave, Can't connect
dear Miss Nikismith
Currently we are developing SCADA system for water offtake station metering,
we are using ABB FEW321 magnetic flowmeter as main device, flow data then centralized to RVG200 recorder.
we are planning to read data from RVG200 via Modbus TCP, then transmitt it to scada server
we already setting the RVG200 with the following setting
Ethernet
dhcp : disable
ip : 192.168.114.222
subnet : 255.255.255.0
gateway : -
Modbus TCP
Implementation : Slave
port : 502
reverse IEEE : no
we can ping the RVG and get good respon, but when we use modscan to read holding register address 0001 we get error message Modbus message timeout,
in RVG there is no option for slave ID, is that the problem or there are another setting we should do
please give us guidance to solve this problem, because ABB indonesia can't give any advice about it
thank you

Hi,
When using Modbus TCP, the slave is addressed via the IP address so in the strictest sense the ID that you would use in RTU terms is not required. However, there are some Modbus Masters that do still require you enter it. For the current firmware of the RVG200 you will need to enter 255 in the master as the slave ID. This tells it that it is not required. This will be changed in future firmware releases.
