800xA 5.1 revC FP4 upgrade issues
We have an already commission powerplant with 800xA 5.1 revC installed. The Control application is build with Function Designer. Due to some contractual and technical issues we would need to install FP4. However, when testing to upgrade the project in a test enviroment we get errors. In one application out of appr 40 we alredy get 159 errors! To adress all these errors we would need weeks and might also be forced to comission the application again. Are there any workaround available since this is already a comissioned plant?
Among the errors we have seen are:
-There is no forward flow between the blocks of the feedback connection"
-Instance specific Initvals for CM only allowed for ports which have "default" Value as "InitvalOfObjectType"
-Multiple connections are not allowed in both source and destination"
The last one is adressed in system 800xA 6.0
5.1 FP4 comes with new Control Builder M, libraries and firmware. In fact the low level AC 800M firmware (VxWorks) is new too. As with all compiler upgrades new and previously not existing warnings and errors may appear.
I sincerely recommend involving your regional ABB support center.
You should not need work arounds - the upgrade should just work.
I guess you have already checked that you didn't miss some library, end up with an old version or miss some stop in the upgrade process ? Are you sure all your custom libraries upgraded properly ? As Stefan says there are sometimes some small changes required to an application when you upgrade, but all this should be in the release notes and the number of errors should be small.
Unfortunately FP4 upgrades dont allways go smoothly. At least you have the luxury of a test system and the opportunity to roll-back and retry.
This probably isnt related, but make sure you dont have issues with "released" libraries http://www402.abbext.com/Cannot-Open-...
