System will not give any problem. It continues to run as it is however there is a pop up message keep coming and annoying the operator during normal operation.
Better you buy additional license or delete the tags what you have added additionaly if it does not affect your normal plant operation.
ABB does not act as police, and it is in the interest of end user to run the plant with fully licensed software.
In most countries the government is making checks for the licenses at industrial plants. If you have the pop-up window informing you about lacking licenses - it is equivalent to running your software without license and your company might get a huge fine from your government or insurance company.
ABB is not implementing any "production stop" because it could be dangerous and not safe.
ABB is sure that end customers are making money with the control system from ABB and sooner or later will purchase the required licenses so there is no pop-up.
See there i a maximum limit on tags of 800XA and that is 60,000 tags.(Which also depends on what configuration you have)
But if you want more than that on the system then you need to get it done through TSA.The error you are talking about,Apart from tht system performance will be very slow as each tag occupies a part of your controllers runtime memory. So it is never in best terms for dcs if we breach its tag limit.
