Ethernet IP communication with a vision camera
I'm investigating the possibilities to communicate with a vision camera (Omron FQ) via ethernet. Omron FQ uses something they call "No protocol Command/Response Method",
basically sending and receiving asci commands between the camera and the plc.
My question is if CI873 with Ethernet/IP is suitable for communication with Omron FQ and is it any function block library available for it?

Hello,
It is not suitable.
We are currently supporting Devicenet devices using a gateway LD800D.
Our understanding is that Ethernet IP is likely to be released in FP4; control IT release.

Not sure about comm. with Omron FQ through CI873 with Ethernet/IP suitability, but following library is available “The CI873 EtherNet/IP-DeviceNet hardware Library, CI873EthernetIPHWLib”. Attached here with short help doc for EtherNet/IP & DeviceNet… Hope it helps to you……
If you are exploring the video integration with 800xA then it is supported for 800xA 4.1 & 5.0 system version.
You need to install VideONetConnect to achieve this and it will bring certain aspects into your system once system extension is run.
