Shared GCOM card in AC400 controller on MB300 network to communicate with L2 of plant network
Hi, is it possible to configure GCOM card to become router also for AC800M with CI855 ?
There is MB300 network with several AC400 controllers on it. Only first AC400 has GCOM card in its rack. That only one GCOM card communicates with L2 computer ALPHA. All other AC400 controllers communicate with L2 computer ALPHA via MB300 and through first AC400 controller's GCOM only card.
Is it possible to configure GCOM card also for new AC800M with CI855 to use the same principle to make connection with L2 computer ALPHA through MB300 and shared GCOM ?

There is no GCOM interface available for the AC800M. So you cannot connect your "Alpha" computer to the AC800M gateway.
Is this an old Vax Alpha system ? Sounds like you may need to upgrade the driver in this computer.
Otherwise, your only other option would be a self defined UDP or TCP communication. ie write your own GCOM driver for AC800M. You will need Version 6. (Self defined UDP or TCP is not released in Version 5)
GCOM can carry MB300 dataset traffic on its data link layer protocol.
Hence, it should be possible to exchange datasets between CI855 and a L2 computer implementing GCOM protocol handler via a Advant Controller as transit node.
I haven't tested it myself though.
