AC400 Series OCS Screens
we want to replace an Advant OCS application (AC450 + OCS) with 800xA using '800xA for Advant Master'. Is there a way to use the 'Screens' used in the old OCS application ?

There is a conversiaton tool from old advant displays to VB6 graphic and also you can convert VB6 graphic to PG2. We had checked this to years ago for a project. But the conversation results are very poor, the graphic looks like beeing painted by a 4 year old child. For normal objects (DI/DO/AI/AO) the dynamic is converted, for special objects you have to define it. At the end you have a lot of manual effort, you stick to old graphics and the former ration (4:3).
We decided to make PG2 graphic from the scratch.
>"But the conversation results are very poor"
Yes, they are ... BUT ... They do provide a good base for starting a manual "tidy up" that can provide quite good results. So the converter is still a very usefull tool.
One of the reasons the first pass conversion result is so poor is that minor mistakes that cannot be seen in the advant graphics are very obvious in the converted graphic. The second main issue is that 3D graphic shapes ( like tanks, pipes and cones ) are converted as multiple objects and need to be replaced with single graphical objects
a ABB group in germany wrote some very good software to convert PCS7 Displays towards 800xA. I have spoken to the guys regarding doing the same for Advant OCS with MOD. It is possible. So I guess it would be possible for Master as well. The results for PCS7 where very good. So depending on the number of display it may b good to try an talk to that people. You can contact german partner sales "Partner-Sales@de.abb.com" to ask for more details.
