How to connect a Label Printer at a S800I/O Cluster with Profibus
Searching a suolution to connect a label Printer direct or next to a Profibus S800-I/O Cluster (z.B. via Serial, Parallel or Ethernet-Interface).
Print is for 2 text lines, ASCII String for Tagprinter Text.
Placement to a S800 cluster because the cluster is alredy installed in the manufacturing Area where also the Printer needs to be located. Next CPU is 500 meters away and without Parallel / Serial Interface Option
Recommendations how to realize?

Hello Rudolf,
I need more info, that you are communicating or sending command or data to label printer from control system ? or label printer functioning separately ? Is it some machine automation or robotics related automation need?
In case label printer is used & functioning separately from control system for labeling, in my opinion better to go with Ethernet. As you will not get any issues with cable length and data communication speed.
But in case of any command and data to be sent to label printer from control system it becomes tricky, Which control system you are using ? you have profibus/serial cards in your HW setup ? In this case as you want label printer next to Profibus-I/O Cluster, in my opinion you can’t use any convertor or serial device on modulebus, maybe from Profibus slave you can use profibus to Serial convertor and you can get your label printer interfaced. It is just an idea !!!!
Hope this helps with your topic here…….

Only a ASCII string is sent to the Printer wit one line forward command. (2Line Printer. Label printer is functionning separateley for machineautomation. I'm aware of other possible sulutions than via Profibus, but the question is still is there a possibility to connect to profibus.
System used is 800xA, got no profubus/serial cards in the HW setup.
Jeah a profibus to Serial convertor could be the solution. Any concrete Vender known?
