AC500 PM573-ETH as a Modbus/TCP Slave/Server (Remote I/O)
Is it possible to use the AC500 PM573-ETH as a Modbus/TCP server/slave and query inputs I/O and toggle digital outputs from custom software running on a server computer acting as a Modbus/TCP client/master?
Effectively, I would need the PM573-Eth and connecting I/O would be simply remote I/O.
I ask b/c I keep seeing 'Input and Output cannot be directly accessed by using Modbus' in the help files and other locations (file:///C:/Users/567477/Documents/Engineering/AFLCS/Research/modbus.pdf), yet the module clearly says it supports Modbus/TCP.

'Input and Output cannot be directly accessed by using Modbus' means that you cannot directly access the I/O channels via a modbus link.
However, you can write a program inside the AC500 to map the Modbus addresses to and from the I/O points.
So yes, you can make this work. Obviously, its up to you how you control program timing, possible latency issues and monitor any fault status in the PLC or IO channels.
