800xA OPC server installation in Non-DCS PC.
I have Redudent DCS system ( 5.1C with FP4)
I want to install OPC server to another non DCS PC and want some data in another SCADA.
1. It's show error in installation (See attachnment)
2. Can I get data on this PC using AC 800 OPC server ( My another scada is able to take data from any OPC server) to this non DCS PC.
I think I will get licence error for that.
Its not recommended to load the AC800M OPC in non-xA node, you are getting this error since OPC server needs a 800xA Base as pre-requisite.
In order to fetch the data from the 800xA OPC server to Non-xA Node as a OPC client then to achieve this you have to go for the DCOM settings between both the machines especially in 800xA you can make any application server(IM,CS,AO etc) as AfwOPCdAsurogate server.
Refer the manual 3BDS011222-510_F_en_System_800xA_5.1_Configuration from page 474 for how to make the DCOM settings
But you need a OPC client connection license to access the AfwOPCdAsurogate process else you will get a license error
There are 2 versions of the OPC server, one for an integrated 800xA system and one for a stand alone compact control builder installation. You are trying to install the 800xA version which is why it wont install unless you first install other 800xA components.
However, just installing the OPC server is not enough. The server must also read the configuration of the application running in the controllers. Each time the controller application is downloaded, the OPC server must be updated as well. Since your controllers are getting their configuration from the control builder in the 800xA system, this happens automatically. Im not sure if you can set the stand alone OPC server up to read the config files from the 800xA system at all. You would need to experiment.
In any case, it is not necessary to do this. Just connect your external client to the OPC server running in the 800xA system. You can use the OPC surrrogate for the 800xA system in any client node, or you can just connect directly to the AC800 OPC server running on your connectivity server.
