Node connection status showing grey in SCC,but deploy and communication is OK with client
Can anybody please tell me how exactly is the SCC showing the node status of nodes(plug icon status) and listing available nodes under System Nodes tab in SCC.
In one site, the SCC was not able to list few nodes available in the network for deployment of node functions, though they were being properly listed in the RNRP monitor. However, by manually typing the node name, the SCC was able to connect to the node and plug icon against the node turned green.
In another site (see attached image),the plug icon against the concerned node still shows grey, even though we were able to deploy node functions to the node and communication was found to be OK between client and server.

The communication between the SCC node and other nodes is through the System Installer Agent service. This service is the one which should be in running state to communicate to SCC and showing the status green in SCC. The search list for nodes most probably is based on the wcf service which finds the nodes where Agent is installed.
The above communications can be disturbed for in-appropriate firewall settings, time sync failure etc.
After deploy connections showing unhealthy can be an issue of UI update also.
The green icon seems to be related with the correct RNRP conection status of the Node.
Try using the RNRP Utility option 5 to test the redundant network (both primary and secundary network) for that client and verify from all Computers of the system if the Windows HOSTS maps every network IP address to each hostname. This can expose a failure in a patchcord that may be delaying the response time of a network connection even if the PING command answers ok.
Attached and image from the SCC of a s.v. 6.0 system. Even with functions pending for deploy, the node shows connected status (green icon).
