Connecting excel to OPC
I want to use data in control builder F by reading them from excel via opc, i add successefully an opc gateway to my project and i download it, but i don't know how i can read from excel, so if someone can help i will be grateful.
thank you very much.
Here is a PDF file showing an example how to do it. Please note the comments. The example contains an OPC-S object (which has no function in the Excel OPC access and also uses the OPC Tunnel, which also is of no use with Excel.
I got this file from Robson Zanetti from ABB Brazil, who successfully tried it out.
But I don't have the project file that is mentioned in the text. I propose you adjust the Excel file, so it reads and writes variables that do exist in your project.
Please ignore the misleading title of the file. It is actually a comunication between Excel and a Freelance OPC server.
May I know which version of Freelance CBF you are using ? as upto Freelance version V9.2, DDE ( dynamic data exchange ) is supported. Using this feature user can read and write data/values from excel or from Windows programs (e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, Lotus 1-2-3, Ami Pro, Intouch). This is additional control software option with basic and advance license. And note that this feature is supported only on Windows XP.
But incase you are using latest Freelance version 2013, which is based on windows 7(No xp), try associated app here through which one can exchange data from excel. Hope these helps
