(AC800F red. with CAN-Bus) Risc by switching a TK831F resistor for the CAN-Bus during the system is running
On a running plant we get some messages DigiNet P Data lost.
I checked the switches on the redundant TK831F modules an found that one resistor
(S2 swich1) is not on.
This resistor is for the CAN chanel 2 and on this chanel we have the problems.
My question now, is it possible to switch on the resistor during the plant is running without a shutdown

Hi,
It's better to play safe with running plant, I propose to get help from local ABB support.
Because incase of redundant AC 800F CAN bus connections to rack i/o's can be connected two ways. Check attached document for details. But the catch is in case1 TB870 connected to first controller, S2 switch1 remains ON, the second TB870 S2 switches are OFF, and in case2 all the switches of S1 & S2 remains OFF.
So I am not sure that you found (S2 switch1) is in which case ? and it should remain OFF or ON? because activation and deactivation of internal/external registers can cause malfunction to communication and it may affect I/O's status and at the end field equipment.
So go through attached documents here and figure out root cause and then proceed. Please reply back if more info/assistance required.
