AC800M and MB300 with 800xA v5.1
I am Managing a Project where I have to upgrade a plant running x12 MB300 Controllers and x6 AC800M Controllers (included x1 AC800M HI) with few 3rd party integrated in ABB DCS.
The upgrade is going well on the Client/Server network, but I am afraid to get to the Plant network because I am not sure about the folowing:
* Should I first upgrade the Firmware in all Controllers using the old system "800xA v5.0 sp1" or I can do that later on the new system "800xA v5.1".
* Can I upgrade the Firmware on a live system; even for HI Controllers or do I need to shutdown.
* Can anyone confirm if any of the RTA board (PU410/can't remember the card name right now) works with 800xA v5.1.
Hope I will find some help.

1.800xA Supports online upgrade only from xA5.0 sp2 or later to 800xA5.1 but not for the below systems ensuring the system being upgraded must have redundant Aspect, Redundant Connectivity servers, with redundant CPU & CEX modules. please refer the doc
2.Starting from Version 5 and installing newer versions of Control Builder and OPC Server does not require a controller upgrade. Controllers with different firmware versions can coexist in the same network, and newer versions of Control Builder and OPC Server can connect to controllers of older versions (not older than Version 5). All Control Builders and OPC Servers must be of the latest
version in a running installation.

3.If are using mod300 with DCN then use RTAB-PU412 & for eDCN then go for PU410 refer the docs http://abblibrary.abb.com/global/scot/scot313.nsf/veritydisplay/7f83a8cc76b3ae4
please follow the product bulletin while upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1
Upgrade your controller firmware when your system have upgraded with 800xa v5.1.
If you have redundant system(Controller and connectivity server) then you can upgrade firmware on live system(Online upgrade)
RTA board will not supported in 5.1 64 bit system and it will support with 5.1 32 bit system.
