800xA IM server cost ?
We are using ABB AC450 controllers .We got our old OS replaced with 800xA.But be did not find any advantage in recording event and alarm and trend logs for longer period. We never get alarms and events more than 2 to 3 days and momentary trends for 2 days. It seems we need to install IM server . Can someone tell me the expenditure required to install new IM server including license from ABB.

Event Storage will store 10.000 events PER event category in 800xA. This can be extended to 50.000 events (per category). The configuration required is described in the user's guides (search for Event Storage).
To find out the current Event Storage capacity; create a COPY of the Common Event List filter, then change category filter to ONLY include the Process(MB300) category. Then create an event list aspect and point out the new filter made in previous step. This new event list shall deliver at least 10.000 events (you need to click "Next" (down arrow) at least 19 times to get to the last page). If you increase the Event Storage service's capacity for Process(MB300) to 50.000 the list should deliver about 100 pages (each containing 500 events).
The maximum retention period of Basic History is not known (there is no max except for what the Microsoft Windows file system can deliver); the current System Guide does no longer limit it to 90 days as it used to do.
I know of a number of sites where Basic History is used to store several years of high resolution trends without problems.
Momentary or ExtMomentary treatment REQUIRES raw data and will not consider secondary data (e.g. an averaged value). We strongly suggest using ExtMomentary treatment since it uses a lossless compression algorithm that will by far stretch the maximum of 86400 points any trend request can deliver. When using the older Momentary treatment, you can at max display 1 day of data if the log is sampling at 1 second.
