Does anyone have a good Modbus TCP/IP solution for Freelance?
I am interested in knowing a solution that has been used in a plant to communicate Modbus TCP/IP to an AC 800F. What are the names of the products involved and were there any difficulties in implementing this?

Hello Brian,
AC 800F has two possible interfaces: FI 820F and FI300F. FI 820F provides Modbus RTU as master and slave. There are a lot of gateways from Modbus TCP to RTU. All gateways I know works as Modbus RTU master and Modbus TCP client. Therefore an other device has to act as the Modbus TCP server. Additionly all Modbus communication in Freelance is realized by function block, which are insert and configure.
The Profibus communication (FI 830) is easier to configure. Profibus DP/Modbus TCP gateways can be inserted in Freelance as Profibus DP slave by a gsd file. I linkend an example gateway.
