Collecting fast update values from Infi-9
We have a customer with 800xA version 5.1 running on an older bailey Infi-90 system. We would like to collect data via OPC for loop tuning. To do this we need a 1 second collection interval with no exception reporting so that we can collect at minimum the PV, SP, OP of a loop.
There are a number of third party alternatives that can do this. However I cannot see how to do this with 800xA. All of the data is only available through 800xA with a large deadband and extremely slow update rate - which is fine for the HMI, but totally useless for tuning.
Any suggestions ?

DBDOC Watch Window feature will do this wonderfully. Combined with turbo fetch of data, you will use only 1 GMI fetch per second, so you could actually reliably get data for multiple loops at once. In addition, this can be done with a serial or SCSI CIU.
We also still maintain a tool we call CIULink that can use DDE access to put the data into a spreadsheet or MDB file, too.
You will have to process the data collected with your own application, but such processing is something you are probably interested in doing yourself to do it validly anyway.
Your client would have to purchase DBDOC, of course, but there are significant benefits. Troubleshooting ease, safe read-only live data and identification of existing and new errors in the configuration, graphics and database are just a few.
