Licence Tag calculation in Compact HMI.
I have Compact HMI licence of 50 Tag.
How this Licence tag count ?? ( upto my knowledge 1 Faceplace = 1 Tag)
I also collect data from 500PLC via OPC server.
Does this OPC connection need any further licence?? ( eg 1 OPC variable = 1 tag???)
How many variable I can connect to CHMI?
If I built Object with faceplate for OPC variable then it count as Tag???
( I have licence for 500 PLC opc server)
The size scaling is defined by the number of communication signals that are allowed in the system. Signals are purchased in packages. Packages are available for 50, 500, and 2500 signals.
The server and clients are scaled based on signals. A Signal is any aspect object of the type PLC xx Signal Type, where xx defines the type of signal. Each signal represents a value that is read or written from or to a controller, PLC or other external device connected to Compact HMI 800.
BTW Tag is device/measurement/valve/motor/etc. (can we say KKS?)....
More info you can find in Compact HMI product catalogue (if the link is posted wrong, copy / paste it directly into browser):
There are also data regarding Compact HMI limits (10k database, number of stations, etc.).
OPC is similar - all "incomming" signals via OPC interface which are used in control strategies or historian are counted as signal. I am not only sure how it is going on with signals which are not used in control strategies / historian - they are only visualized on operator screens via any graphics (maybe there is not necessary any license?).
I compact HMI the Variables (Signal) is not counted. It is purely based on the Faceplate(Tags) Only. You can have more signals but limited faceplate.
For your case you can connect to AC500 plc Via OPC server and you can access all OPC variables. Your project is limite to 50 Faceplate only.
I too have doubt over it.
For buying License for Compact HMI/800xA, how do we exactly Count the NO OF TAGS?
Is it the No of Variables we create in Control Structure?
OR, Is it the All th No of Variables we Use on SCADA?
OR, Is it the No of Faceplates,we are going to use in SCADA,(irrespective of No of variables to be attached on all SCADA screens)
Please mention me the exact way to count the NO OF TAGS,FOR BUYING A LICENSE??
Sorry for providing wrong info from my side. vijayaram is right. In fact the Compact HMI license engine counts tags, which is in fact the number of faceplates in the control structure.Signal to tag ration is 1:2.5, means that if you purchase a 1000 signal license, the license engine would allow for 400 faceplates in the control structure. Tag definition/clarification is explain in the next thread:
I'm not sure. From Table 6 in 3BSE041037-510_B_en_Compact_HMI_800_5.1_Product_Guide.pdf CHMI Server Workplace is licensed by number of signals (50, 500, 2500). I think, that number of tags is additional clarification - you can't have number of tags (object with at least one faceplate) more than 20, 200, 1000 with number of signals 50, 500, 2500.
Is there some unequivocal document or white paper?
