GPS Clock Synchronization....GPS Clock data in RS232/RS485
Client is providing us GPS Clock data in RS232/RS485.
So how to Synchronizing the Time with PM554??
Plz send sample program it. or Any Special Library of it.
RS232/RS485 is a hardware line property of the port of this clock.
What do you have as a protocol from this device? What is written in the technical specification for that? May be it is intended to work under Windows? May be you can configure the device trough this port?
I think without to have this information, you can't do anything - GPS clock seems too general description of the device
In one of our projects, we had a GPS clock, whose date and time parameters could be read via. Modbus over an RS-485 connection.
The AC500 PLC would read this data as a MODBUS master.The data obtained was then used as input parameters for the CLOCK function block, after being converted into appropriate data types, matching those of the CLOCK FB inputs.
Every day at 11.59PM, a pulse signal is applied at the SET input of the CLOCK FB, which would cause the PLC internal clock to synchronize with the GPS.
Note: Due to the periodic polling method used in Modbus communication, the PLC time in seconds may lag the GPS clock's seconds parameter, depending on the number of RTU devices on the same RS-485 line as the GPS device.This delay may be reduced by including the status of the respective COM_MOD_MAST FB's Done output, while generating the pulse signal.
In case there is a communication failure with the GPS clock, the pulse signal must be blocked at the SET input, to prevent setting the PLC clock with OLD GPS data present at the CLOCK FB's input.
