how to connect Profibus to AC450?
The existing ABB-Master AC450 and the extension S100 is full with cards. Master and Operating-station are connected with MB300. Not enough IOs available to operate 9 valves with electrical actuators. For each valve 2 DIs and 2 AIs needed.
Whatever, it is possible to add Profibus DP-VO to the AUMA valves. Total configuration is: electrical actuators is AUMA, Motor SA 10.2, Aumatic AC 01.2 and Profibus DP-VO.
But how to connect it? What's the right way?
Reorganization of IOs to replace one card with a profibus-card?
I am pleased about every feedback regarding this 'problem'.

You can use a CI541 to add a profibus to AC450.
I do NOT recommend it. The profibus "works", but it is difficult to configure and does not work well on AC450. Some problems can require you to restart the AC450. In this case where you want to control IO then for me, profibus is not reliable enough on an AC450
Use Advant Fieldbus (AF100) and S800 I/O instead. The work to configure an AF100 is the same as installing a profibus interface and it is much better supported by the controller.
Keep in mind that Profibus is only supported from AC450 Version 2.0 and newer.
Upgrade from an earlier AC450 Version means exchange of the CPU (PM510 by PM511V16) and replace also some other hardware units (DSBCs in the S100 Racks, some cables, etc)
As Rob mentioned earlier, S800 on AF100 will be the best solution!
There is two way (reasonable) seems to me logical.
1- Use AC800M to communicate with auma valves and CI855 for MB300.
Via DataSets you can transfer data both way for AC450
2- Use profibus Interface card for AC450. Little trouble to configure it and needs restart
sometimes to see slaves. But after works fine.
if you have limited experinece on advant I recommend you to go with first solution.
