800xA for Freelance controller upgrade
Hello,
I have a 800xA system with freelance connect. With 800F controllers.
If I want to replace an controller with a 900F, with the same application. This is no problem in my conrol builder F.
But what are the consequences for my 800xA graphics?
I think I should make a new PLE file, and import it again. But then I would have problems with duplicated TAG names?
Does anyone have experiance with this?

Hello,
in my understanding there should not be a problem.
When you transfer the application to the new controller, the Tagnames of function blocks and variable names should stay the same. Only if you have used hardware tags in your 800xA graphics you might need to change the animation by using the new hardware tagnames.
After creating a new PLE file, you can do either a delta upload or a complete synchronization upload. Intersting question is here what would be better?
For the delta upload the uploader compares the new PLE file with the internally stored older PLE file and only processes changes. Question here is does it recognize the changes correctly?
For the synchronize upload it will compare the aspect directory content with the complete PLE file.
Why not try the delta upload first and only if you find missing objects do the synchronize upload.
In neither case tags or variables should be duplicated.
Please Note that I haven't experienced such a situation myself, so my answer is theroretically and based on the manual and my understaning of how the upload works.
A backup before the changes is highly recommended.
