CI854 Line A & Line B can act independently
I have CI854 Profibus Master Card in AC800M Controller. Can we connect 25 Device in Line A from Profibus Address 2-27 and 25 Devices in Line B from Profibus Address 28-52 or Line A and B will work only in redundant
It will work..But I do not understand why you are doing this? As of my understanding, that will reduce only Usage of profibus cable. But in this case you have to compromise redundancy.
Your connections should be as mentioned below for Profibus A:
CI854(Profibus A)- Node 2- Node 3 …Node 26
Switch on terminations in CI854 (profi A) & in Node 26. All Profibus connectors in between CI854 & Node 26 should be off.
Now cable to be laid for second route (Profibus B)as:
Make terminations on in CI854(profi B) and in Node 52.
In software configure all modules with redundancy..Now Nodes 2-26 will run on Profibus A & nodes 26-52 will run on Profibus B..
By doing this, your requirement will work..But did I get u correctly? I don't know why you are performing this.
@Rob Lyon -As far I know this will definitely work..Am I correct? Or did I get something wrong
I think the other posters missed one point that you can't use more than 32 nodes (master included) on one profibus line due to electrical limitations. you'll have to use a bus repeters/coupler if you use one profibus cable at port A of CI854 and connect all nodes to that. There will not be enough power on the bus.
If you use port A and port B as 2 separate electrical segments and connect 25 nodes on each, it will work. and as for profibus master all the 50 slaves will be visible on profibus.
just disable the line redundancy parameter in CI854 settings.
