Printer problem with ABB 800xA System
We have large ABB 800xA setup with about 50 Controller, 04 AS/CS Server, 06 HMI and 01 ENG Station. The 50 controllers are evenly distrubuted among these 04 AS/CS Servers. We have 02 Printers connected on same network. We have dedicated switches for C-net(Controller Network) & P-net(Process Network). We are using Hirchmann 1040 Gigabyte Ethernet Switch.
When ever we are giving printer it is taking long time to print; somtimes it is not-at-all printing.
The IP address of Printer is as given below:
IP:172.16.4.92/Subnet: 255.0.0.0./Default Gateway is 172.16.4.92.
The IP Address of ENG Station is
IP:172.16.84.13/Subnet: 255.255.252.0.Default Gateway is -.-.-.-
For printer I Tried with Subnet of 255.255.252.0 but no use.
Please advice...
Also,Is it OK to configure ENG Station/HMI/Servers etc on network without Default Gateway?
Answers
Printer and its clients need to share same subnet which is NOT the case in your figures.
If a station at .84. need to print at printer on .4. you must configure a printer queue on some PC with RNRP enabled at the .4. network and then print to the shared printer from the .84. network (where clients need RNRP to get routing to the printer share).
A printer can not run RNRP = only nodes on same subnet will have direct access.
If printing is slow, check your printer, cabling, etc or try another printer.
