How to avoid Alarm Generation after Program download in AC800M controller
Version: 5.0.0 SP2 RU3h (PLC connect)
Whenever i Perform a download operation in Control Builder, displays in HMI shake for 1 second(ON-OFF-ON).. But Plant Operations are not affected.
Along with this, number of Alarms are generated (approx 300-500)
Eventhough this behaviour is expected because of download, my doubt is can Alarm Generation be avoided after download? Operators get confused because of this behaviour.
Any settings are there to avoid Alarm generation after download?
The displays are probably showing an OPC failure briefly because your PLC "stop" time is too long. Your controller application stops briefly while it changes over to the new version. The bigger the application, the more spare memory you need to warm start it and the longer the warm start takes.
You can reduce the stop time by making your programs smaller ( ie by splitting them ) so they need less memory. Of course, I realize this is easier said than done, but basically if your applications are smaller then the stop time should not interrupt any program scanning and the OPC server will not notice the stop.
You get soft alarms generated during the download for the same reason - the OPC server loses communication briefly and reports a bad status. This causes an alarm burst. This problem should ONLY affect soft alarms or alarm expressions.
For this reason, it is much better to generate alarms in the controller using Alarm Cond modules. These are not affected by a download. Using alarmCond modules also reduces the subscription load to the controller ( remember, alarm expressions require aermanantly active subcription )
