If you want to make big changes to the default security of an 800xA system then this is quite a lot of work. You need to carefully plan what exactly it is that you want to do. Start your planning by reading the Administration and Security manual (3BSE037410) - Section 4.
You need to understand the concepts of "Roles" and "800xA Permissions". Section 4 will tell you how to change user permissions and how to make your own user permissions.
- You can use "Security Definition" aspects to control who is allowed access to an object or to a group of objects in a structure.
- You can use "Property Attribute Override" aspects to make changes to the AC800M default security for properties in the Standard libraries.
- You can set Permissions for properties (ie variables) in your own Control Modules and Function Blocks using Control Builder.
There is also a warning in the manual ...
"The general principle when configuring 800xA Security is to keep it as simple as possible. A complicated security configuration is, in itself, a security problem, because it will be difficult to maintain and will encourage shortcuts."
