Freelance V9.1 and windows server 2008 standard SP2
Hi, I've put an opc gateway (freelance V9.1) on a machine (Machine A) with Windows Server 2008 Standard Service Pack 2. My control builder is on a other machine (machine B) with Windows XP Service Pack 3. Machine A can ping Machine B but in control builder, is it impossible to see the gateway (no connexion).
Is it compatible to have an OPC gateway with the connectivity station of freelance V9.1 on a machine with Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2?
Freelance V9.1 has been released for XP SP2 (SP3 with 9.1RU1a) and Windows 2003 server. Any statement on whther it works on other versions cannot been made, because tests have not been performed. Even if someone tells you he has it running, that doesn't mean it will run for you too, simply because your use cases (and therefore functions used) differ from those of the other user.
Having said that, I don't believe your problems are connected to windows or server versions. I guess you did install the Freelance connectivity workplace on your machine A, but have you also set up the OPC server via the Configure tool there?
Afterwards you need to use the same resource ID in the network configuration of your project for the OPC Gateway.
Make sure the OPC Gateway is running. Start it manually if necessary, because the CBF does not use DCOM to talk to the gateway (which would start the gateway), but the internal Freelance communication protocoll.
Also check whether the subnet mask settings support all your IP addresses in the system.
