Backup Project file from AC500 controller
If it is Automation Builder, I'm doing following:
-> File -> Save Proect As... -> select a new directory and save the proect
if you have CP600 project integrated in the project, go to this proect and open it with Panel Builder 600. From Panel Builder 600:
-> File -> Save Proect As... -> select the directory, created above and save the proect
Then you can save the above created folder in other place as a backup
To backup the proect in the controller, open it with CoDeSys (double click on the application). From CoDeSys:
-> Online -> Create Boot Proect
Other option, described in the manual for Automation Builder:
Save the proect
Go File -> Proect Archive -> Save/Send Archive
Also you can search in the help "Backup".
I am assuming that your requirement is to upload the PLC project from the AC500 CPU to your PC.
However, in order to do so, it is necessary that a copy of the current PLC project being executed on the controller must already be present on a memory card mounted in the card slot of the CPU. Referring to Mr. Kstoilov's answer, the project saved on the memory card must be identical to the one which was downloaded onto the CPU and whose boot project was created.
To begin with, a project backup can be obtained only if,
a)SD card is mounted
b)The earlier application engineer has done a source code download
Unfortunately, as far as I know, it is not possible to obtain a copy of the running PLC program directly from the flash memory.
For more info on the SD card method of storing and retrieving PLC project, please refer to the attached ABB public document.
